after tarquin the proud's family was kicked out of Rome the people decided that they didn't want to deal with another corrupt king in power so they elected 2 consuls.
A consul is an elected official who is in office for only one year, the consul was always a patrician(aristocrat), they would deal with justice, creating laws, and were the chief's of the military.
The Plebs were still unhappy because they were treaty unfairly so they went on strike from the military until their were written laws(the law of the twelve tables) and they had Tribunes.

Archimedes - he accurately estimated the value of PI. colossus of Rhodes - the largest hellenistic statue created. 3. Trade spread different cultural ideas around and created diversity. 4. Euclid - his geometry helped Eratothenes and Aristarchus find the size of the earth. 5. They both believed we should live in peace.
