         The Athenian soldiers wear red robes, so the blood won’t show. If the blood is seen it’s a sign of weakness, therefore, more soldiers will target you. Hoplites carried a short sword known as the xiphos, made of iron or bronze depending on the era. The primary weapon was a two – three-meter spear known as the doru. The soldiers wore a heavy bronze plated chest piece, little other armor was worn.
The soldiers carried a large heavy shield to defend themselves from swords, spears, incoming arrows, and rocks launched from slingshots.
         Warfare in Greece was very basic, they didn’t do anything fancy, just pure brutal hand to hand combat.
